5 Ways to a Positive Attitude
When you have a positive attitude, everything changes! Here are some ways to change your day-to-day perspective.
Change “I have to” to “I get to.” No one likes chores, right? Well, maybe some people do. By switching your thoughts from recognizing items or tasks as being a burden to being a gift, you can reframe the thought and become thankful for what you have. For example, “I have to wash the dishes” becomes “I get to wash the dishes because I have food to eat that nourishes my body and that of my family.” See the difference? Never treat a gift as a burden.
Say positive affirmations to yourself. What do you want? Perhaps you desire a better job, more money, or time away for a vacation. Saying affirmations supports you in managing positive change. For instance, at work, you may say, “I am enough. I am intelligent, and no one knows more about my job than I do. I contribute to the greater good of my company. I am a team player and look for opportunities to contribute.”
Be thankful. What are you grateful for? Do you ever think of this question in regards to all you have? Many people take it for granted that they have all they need because they always are reaching for more. A gratitude journal is a great way to reflect on both the small and large blessings you already have.
If you don’t like it, change it. Many people complain daily about the same thing. Maybe they don’t like their job, the paint color of their bedroom, or that they don’t know how to cook. Pinpoint happiness stumbling blocks and empower yourself to make a change. It’s your life, and you are in charge of what you feel. Solve the problem that causes you stress and discomfort, and move on.
Spend time with positive people. Ditch the Negative Nellies of the world. The popular saying “A rising tide lifts all ships” holds true for spending time with positive individuals. Happiness is contagious. You can let others with a positive attitude help guide the way to grateful and hopeful thinking.
